I grew up smack dab in the middle of five sisters (that's me in the red).
As a military family, we moved every couple years.
It could have been easy to get lost in the shuffle.
But, my parents didn't let that happen. For instance, on my 8th birthday, they gave me a journal with my name scripted on the cover.
It made me feel seen.
It even started me on my path to become a professional marketing writer (ashtonpen.com).
This is my 'why' behind ashtonink calligraphy.
It's not about the flourishes ~ It's about connection.
To show people they matter.
Education and Professional Roles:
With degrees in public relations and journalism, I've served corporate clients for more than two decades as a senior account manager for a B2B tech PR firm and as a freelance customer story writer.
I started exploring calligraphy as a mindful hobby, though it quickly became a passion.
As a member of an international calligraphy association, I've attended conferences and completed workshops with renowned calligraphers including Pat Blair, former chief calligrapher at the White House.
My specialty is in modern and traditional pointed pen calligraphy founded in Copperplate script and foundational hand. While I love a good flourish, I also offer print letter styles.
When I'm not playing with new pens and inks, you'll find me hiking nearby mountains in Cache Valley, Utah, and carpooling kids to water polo and dance.
I truly love connecting with other professionals and artists.
