I grew up smack dab in the middle of five sisters.
As a military family, we moved every couple years.
It could have been easy to get lost in the shuffle.
But, my parents didn't let that happen. For instance, on my 8th birthday, they gave me a journal with my name scripted on the cover.
It made me feel seen.
It even started me on my path to become a professional writer (ashtonpen.com).
This is my 'why' behind ashtonink calligraphy.
It's not about the flourishes ~ It's about connection.
To show people they matter.
Education and Professional Roles:
Backed by degrees in public relations and journalism, I've spent more than 25 years serving corporate clients as an account manager or freelance writer.
I started exploring calligraphy as a mindful hobby and it quickly became a passion.
I belong to state and international calligraphy associations, completing workshops with renowned calligraphers including Pat Blair, former chief calligrapher at the White House.
My specialty is modern and traditional pointed pen calligraphy founded in Copperplate script and foundational hand. While I love a good flourish, I also offer print letter styles.
When I'm not playing with new pens and inks, you'll find me hiking nearby mountains in Cache Valley, Utah, and carpooling kids to water polo or concerts.
I truly love connecting with other professionals and artists.
